Stupid Trolls

In stories and fairy tales, trolls are depicted as small, ugly creatures that hide under a bridge waiting for random people wanting to cross, where they then ask them a riddle and only let them through when they are given the answer they want. In Harry Potter, a troll was the creature that caused havoc on the grounds of Hogwarts and what Ron and Harry saved Hermione from. In the real world, we have internet trolls that in some ways parallels what these made up creatures are like. Instead of hiding under a bridge, these internet trolls hide behind a mask of anonymity and the safety of their computer screen, while also causing havoc by leaving rude comments that they want the person reading it to get a rise out of and respond to it.

In my opinion, I think trolling and being a troll is really stupid. I don’t understand how people think leaving rude comments could be funny, and that they actually take time out of their day to do it. But there really isn’t a way to completely stop trolling. Yes, you can always block that person or try to report them so that their account is suspended or deleted, but they can always get another one and when there’s one troll there’s probably more. I think that the most reasonable thing to do is to just ignore them. It’s best to just not respond and not to make their opinion matter to you because if you do respond you’re just adding fuel to their fire and making them stronger to make more comments. To some people this may seem like it won’t be able to do anything, but what else can you do to stop the trolls?
