Final Thoughts
The Food Politics section that we have been studying in class has proven itself to have provided great insight on the food industry and the importance of eating healthy. It's kinda heartwarming to see everyone blog about how much they have come to realize what they can do to improve their eating habits. Eating well and acknowledging the corruption within the food industry is such an important subject to be familiar with. Personally, I am so thankful we have had this section on food politics. It has made me aware of how important *healthy* food really is. Learning about food has impacted my own way of choosing how and what to eat. In addition, it has made me interested in wanting to plant my own food and learn how to make more home cooked meals rather than going out so much. I wish all students could have access to these kind of studies that are efficient in the long run. It could have the power to change America's notorious reputation of having an overweight population. While studying about food may not have as big of an impact on America's youth as lowering the cost of healthy food, it would still manage to ignite change! Furthermore, more action should be taken against corruption and injustice within the food industry. Companies like Monsanto and large fishing corporations shouldn't be allowed to have as much power as they do. We must come together and not tolerate the exploitation of both humans and animals.
