My Realization
If I look back to four years ago in comparison to now, I think my view on the food industry has changed. I never knew how our food was handled and what kind of chemicals go into the foods we eat. I knew that the foods we eat could harm our bodies by it being unhealthy for us but I never really thought about the other ways how it can hurt us. For example the type of diseases that a person can get when eating foods that aren't handled with care or because of the environment that surrounds those foods. I realized that I needed to pay close attention to the foods I put in my body after watching the Food Inc. video. The part of this film that really opened my eyes was when the mom was talking about her son that passed away from E Coli poisoning. Watching a mother cry for her baby and creating “Kevin's Law” really touched my heart. It's just sad to see how difficult it was for her just to pass a law that would benefit everyone's health and maybe save lives. In addition, I pay more close attention to the foods I put in my body. Before I never thought about the different diseases that foods could have and how it could affect my health. Since I last saw the video I haven’t been eating out as much at fast food places. It makes you think if that’s your last meal, just like the little boy that died from E Coli. Now, I would rather have a home cooked meal. Not only is the food healthier for you but you also know that the food you are putting in your body is handled correctly because you're the one cooking it. Also after looking at the articles online, I realized that there are other options when you want a snack. Before I would eat unhealthy chips and drinks, but now I stopped eating chips and I mostly just drink tea or water.
