Is anonymity all that bad?
The past few weeks in ERW class we have been working with articles on anonymity. A lot of the bad comes from online trolls who hide behind a computer screen because they don't want their name on the mean and hurtful things they say to or about other people. But, you do have to look at the good of anonymity too. There are reasons why we shouldn't get rid of it. One reason being that it can help us get information without feeling embarrassed for asking a "stupid" question. As Ms. Fletcher reminded us, think back to freshman year when we took health class and there was that week we talked about sex. The teacher had a box that you could but a question in without putting your name on it. You were anonymous but you weren't being hurtful to anyone. I believe taking away anonymity would leave people too afraid to voice their opinions and we might miss out on something great.
