Unhealthy Food Policy

After reading many articles online, researching food politics and listening to different food movement advocates touch on the topic of starting a revolution, I've came to the conclusion that our food policies have really become part of the problem. The United states spends way too much money on unsustainable food and farm programs that do more harm than good. It not only harms the consumers, but the  environment as well. There are these powerful interests that defend the current ways of which we go about producing food and its only a substantial investment that leads to a disconnection with nature and good food. Growing our own food and fighting the messed up food system by shopping locally and learning/teaching kids about food seems to be the solution. Yet there is so much effort and contribution that needs to be set in order to accomplish this revolution.  It's encouraging to see how many people are already active growers and speakers for the movement that can potentially remold the country. We think we are getting hooked up when we buy all these fast foods because the price is low and locations are convenient, when in reality the cost is higher in the sense that what you're eating can have a negative outcome, socioeconomically and health-wise. Eating and producing healthier foods is actually better for the country, more affordable and accessible, which is why I still don't truly understand why the hell it's taking so long for people to realize that what we're eating is going to ruin us worse than anything else. Eat Right, Stay Hungry.
