We Need to Educate Kids About Food

While I was searching for a topic for the research paper I came across this TED talks on YouTube about why we should educate every kid about food. In the video he talks about how children these days don't know a lot about food and he even shows a video of little kids being unable to identify certain vegetables. He even talks about how people in the newer generations are starting to have shorter life spans due to the food the eat. He says how there are an increase in obesity due to the food industry and the fast food industry. He said the solution was simple. We need to teach kids in our generation more about food so they can make a change. This video was entertaining and made me think of what would happen if schools and home-life taught us more about the food industry and how to take care of our bodies and watch what we eat.

  1. I don't completely think that this will solve the problem with our food problems. Many of the problems that children have is usually because of the parents. Schools can teach these children, however, children are more influenced by their parents and they are usually taught early in their life. They are around their parents more and especially during elementary school, they eat what they are fed. They can be picky, but as a parent you should push what is healthy in front of them when they are still a toddler. They need to eat healthy early to accept healthy eating in later stages of their life without complaining or throwing a tantrum. I believe the solution relies mostly within the parents.
